I am grateful each day for the health insurance that our family has. We signed up for our Kaiser insurance before Hannah was even sick.
I get questions from people about how they can help our family. Over the past 10+ months we have had medical-related expenses & I am now anticipating a lot more as we prepare to go to Seattle for Hannah's bone marrow transplant.
While Jim & I were up at Seattle Children's Hospital meeting with the doctors, we also met with other departments regarding Hannah's transplant. One department was the financial department (gulp). They told us Hannah's transplant will most likely cost between $500,000 - $600,000. I asked if they took cash ...ha, ha.
Our insurance will cover 100% of Hannah's bone marrow transplant. Yes, you read that right: 100%.
I am beyond grateful - thank you, Lord!
Our church, Pomona First Baptist, has set up a benevolence fund to assist our family with the additional medical related expenses of Hannah's illness (not the actual cost of the transplant but all other related costs). We will be living in Seattle for at least 3+ months & we have to live within a certain distance of the hospital for all of Hannah's out-patient care after her transplant.
If you would like to give to this benevolence fund all donations will be forwarded to our family.
Please make checks payable to Pomona First Baptist Church and put in the memo area "Benevolence Fund". Please make sure you include a note that the gift is for the Eriksen's medical related needs and send it to:
Pomona First Baptist Church
Attn: Peter Torry
586 N. Main Street
Pomona, CA 91768
Online giving is also an option. Just put a comment that the donation is for the Eriksen's / Benevolence fund. Click here to donate online.
No pressure at all to give. All donations will be anonymous, unless otherwise requested.
It is beyond overwhelming all the people that have reached out to our family with encouragement over these past 10+ months.
Thank you!
All God's best from our HOME --

Have you looked into the Ronald McDonald House Foundation? My cousin (from Oregon) stayed there when she had to spend 7 months by Loma Linda while awaiting and recovering from a heart transplant for her baby, along with her husband and other child. We visited them there often and thought it was really nice. At first they were in a communal home (like a hotel) but for the majority of the time they were in a furnished 2 bedroom detached house just down the street from the hospital.
